A Late Farewell

August 7th, 2009 · No Comments · Television

Scrubs_logoI’ve been cleaning out the DVR lately and I’ve gotten it down to pretty much all shows we’ve recorded for my son.  I came across the season finale of SCRUBS.  I had watched it back in May and really enjoyed it.  My wife hadn’t so we watched it tonight.

Watching it again had me thinking back on how much I have enjoyed the series.  I didn’t start watching the series until the third season; right around when my wife and I were married.  I’ve enjoyed it ever since.  Bill Lawrence’s use of music is, without a doubt, second to none when it comes to a television series.  Right up there with Cameron Crowe’s use in film, I’d say.  The finale was no different.  From the cover of the Scrubs Theme, “Superman” to the hauntingly touching use of Peter Gabriel’s cover of “The Book of Love,” originally recorded by The Magnetic Fields, over the montage of J.D. and Elliot’s possible future.  They leave it open, of course.  But I’ll take it as what Bill Lawrence had in mind and his final word on what road these two characters travel together.
